Dixie's Football Pride

What a weekend! We covered a lot of miles in 30-hour period. But we accomplished what we set out to do - take Libby to her very first University of Alabama football game.
I made plans with my friend, Kathryn. Drew agreed to keep the baby so I could focus my time and energy on this special day. Libby and I drove to Birmingham Friday afternoon. We stayed the night at Kathryn's. She entertained and fed us well!
Saturday morning we rose early and headed to Tuscaloosa. We endured traffic (grrr!), talked our way into some cheap parking and made it to the stadium.
The weather was perfect. People covered the campus and fans filled the stadium. There was so much to see. It's exciting as an adult, so I know Libby was working hard to take it all in.
We had GREAT seats. Eight rows up on the 30 yard line. We could see all the action.
The players,
the coaches,
the cheerleaders.
Libby handled herself so well. She stood, she sat, she cheered and ate popcorn. She made friends with the couple behind us. She was content for four quarters. Impressive.
She cheered the boys on to a big victory.
Following the game, we headed to the quad to take in the sights and action on campus.
We passed my school. A lot of hours (and stress) were spent in this building.
We also visited the Phi Mu house. Thousands of wonderful memories here.
And we saw some interesting things along the way. Like a car covered entirely in hounds tooth.
Libby told me she had fun and told me on the way home, "Momma, our team won!"
I am grateful that I could enjoy this day with Libby and Kathryn. She's had an awesome experience at the other college and now this trip. She is one lucky little girl.
Roll Tide, Libby! Here's to future games and memories to be made at the Capstone.
