What to make?

11:26 AM

With two big holidays just around the corner, I'm reminded of a shortfall I have...I don't cook!I've already begun dealing with this handicap as parties are being planned and sign up sheets are floating around the office, Sunday school and family gatherings. I used to push people over to get to the list so I could sign up for drinks, cups, plates and utensils. But I find that it's no fun to sign up for those things anymore, I want to make stuff. With Thanksgiving around the corner, I've already started debating what to make while being honest with myself - I have very little time to devote to shopping and cooking of specialty items. I also have to remind myself that cooking is supposed to be fun, not torture!

So, I need your help. I'm on the lookout for some easy (and don't mean easy to Martha Stewart, I mean easy) and tasty ideas. (I'm looking for an easy side dish or dessert.) I've started searching for recipes online. But if you have any tips you'd like to share, please send them my way!

Well, hop to it! There's a sign up sheet I've been avoiding that's waiting for me in the break room! :)

  1. Let me tell you what inspired me to become domestic...kitchen gadgets. Go find a cool one, then look for a recipe that you can use it with...it really works! I am pretty sure my obsession started with a trip to Williams-Sonoma, from there I was inspired!

  2. Go to Columbus Cooks...they have the most awesome stuff! You may try starting off with something that is simple to make like monkey bread. It is easy and fun. Peyton loves to make it. Child LOVES to cook!

  3. I will have to check out Columbus Cooks, do they give you the ingredients? Hmm. I like the tip about kitchen gadgets, too. I have many from our wedding registry that I just don't know what to do with! One of my friends sent me an easy peasy recipe for green bean casserole, I might attempt that for our Thanksgiving brunch at work. Yikes!
