Tennesse Trip
3:00 PMThis weekend I got to enjoy a girls' trip to Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Our friend, Holly, moved back home to Tennessee last year. She's traveled back to Alabama several times, so it was our turn to visit her.
She and her daughter, Kayley, have recently reloacted to Oak Ridge which is just outside of Knoxville, TN and about a 45 minute trip to Gatlinburg.
After some planning, Coop, Beth and I decided the MLK holiday weekend would be a good time to make the trip. We left Friday afternoon. After braving Atlanta traffic and a few stops along the way, we arrived late Friday evening. We stayed up into the wee hours catching up with Holly that night.
Saturday morning after breakfast we decided to make the short trip the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. Here we are all ready to take off. Holly's friend, Nikki (far left), braved the trip with us, too.
After fighting some fierce traffic, we made it!
We walked around downtown Gatlinburg and visited lots of shops. Holly spotted these GREAT hats. What SEC fan wouldn't want to wear this furry cap to the next game?
I took this picture of Holly because she wore these stiletto-like boots all day. She never complained. She's a trooper! Me, nope, I'd be down for the count after two stores.
We ate dinner at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant in Pigeon Forge. There was so much food and the apple fritters with apple butter...lawd, it was a good meal, indeed!
Holly toured us around downtown Knoxville on the drive back. We saw Neyland Stadium and the Tennessee River.
Sunday afternoon we packed up and headed home. We had an easy trip back to Alabama. It was such a fun weekend. We laughed a lot and enjoyed spending time with such a sweet friend.
Girls' Weekend in Oak Ridge was a success! Thanks again, Holly, for being such a great host!

Sounds fun! We're headed to Gatlinburg in a few weeks and I can't wait! Hoping we get to play in some snow!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I'd love a girls weekend trip!
ReplyDeleteOh those SEC hats are hilarious haha- I shudder to think what a UGA one looked like.
@Brittaney - there was no snow on our trip. We did see flurries Saturday night. Hopefully you'll get some.
ReplyDelete@Ally - The SEC hats were awful! The UGA's "faux hawk" featured black and red hair. It was bad! ;)
Love the pics. I am going to steal a couple of them :) Had a great time!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon from L.A.!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip~you have such sweet friends. Road trips are the best and the best people to take them with are such good people. Thank you for sharing!
A lovely week to you and yours...
Warmly,
Elizabeth
