Monday night I had the chance to attend the Russell/Muscogee Chapter of The University of Alabama Alumni dinner. The guest speaker for the evening was Gene Stallings, former Alabama National Championship coach for the Crimson Tide. My dad's firm bought a sponsor table, allowing us to arrive early and meet Coach Stallings.

After the meet and greet, we went into the main ballroom where there were hundreds of Bama fans, exciting to see here in Auburn country!

After dinner Coach Stallings spoke and he reaffirmed my love for Alabama football. He is just a statue of a man. What I liked about him most was even though he's a coaching all star, he spoke mostly about his son, John Mark Stallings. Johnny had Down syndrome and passed away last year. He told so many sweet and funny stories about John Mark's life. His speech reminded me that we make life way too complicated. We need to slow down, love our family and enjoy this life God has given us.

Siran Stacy, Alabama former running back, also spoke. He pumped up the crowd and closed the evening out with Alabama cheers that had everybody shouting, "Roll Tide Roll!"
